What happens during this course

Course structure

Before you arrive

Online Pre-Study

Complete 20 hours of online study before the course begins. You’ll build your basic foundations in mat and reformer Pilates — the fundamental exercises, Pilates principles, and programming.

Six days at Mira

The Intensive

Take your foundational learning and apply it in a classroom studio during six days at Mira. Deepen your understanding of anatomy and Pilates foundations — and learn how to teach.

Learn by watching

Self Study

Learn from your favourite teachers by attending classes and critically reviewing different teaching styles. Every class you take is part of your training.

Certification

Assessment

You’ll practise teaching throughout the course and be given feedback, so by the time the assessment comes you’re already an experienced teacher. The final step: record yourself coaching a mat and reformer class — safe set-ups, confident cueing.

Why train at Mira

We listened.
We evolved.

We interviewed Pilates graduates to find out what was missing from their training. Then we built the Mira teacher training to be the answer.

The feedback

“The training is too intense and I’m exhausted.”

Burnout? Not here.

We’ve optimised the schedule for peak performance, not exhaustion.

  • Mandatory mid-course rest day
  • Daily morning ice baths on the rooftop
  • Restorative yoga included every night

The feedback

“Too many students, not enough equipment.”

One student, one machine.

We believe in intimacy and hands-on time. We have 12 machines, so we limit the course to 12 students.

  • 12 machines, 12 students
  • One lead instructor, two assistants
  • You’re never just one of many

The feedback

“I ended up spending way more than the tuition fee.”

Total transparency.

What you see is what you get. On-site accommodation is included — choose a private room or shared dorm.

  • Accommodation included
  • Heart of Mirissa — 5 min from the beach
  • No hidden costs

The feedback

“I graduated, but I didn’t feel ready to actually teach.”

The bridge to confidence.

We don’t kick you out the door on graduation day. Enjoy two additional days on-site with full studio access — free.

  • 2-day “Plus” stay included
  • Film content, run community classes
  • Build confidence before you head home

Common questions

What if I’ve never taught before?

The majority of people coming to Pilates teacher training have never taught before. You’ll be in great company.

How long does the training take?

There are 20 hours of self-paced online learning, plus 18 hours of Pilates classes. Then, once at Mira, six days of hands-on learning to complete prior to certification.

Does the course include anatomy modules?

Anatomy and physiology are covered in both the online modules and again during the in-person training. We know anatomy can be daunting and there’s a lot to learn — which is why we cover it twice over.

What is required to complete my certification?

To gain your certification you’ll need to complete 100% of your online course modules, your participation hours in classes, the teacher-led practical learning in Sri Lanka, and the assessment.

Is the 2-day "Plus" stay an additional cost?

No — it’s free. Enjoy two additional days on-site with full studio access. Use the time to film content, run community classes, and build the confidence to lead before you head home.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka?

Most likely, yes. Please check your own government’s travel advice for the current Sri Lanka visa requirements.
